I thought I’d talk a little bit about my trip and what it takes to get on the trip. Before I started fundraising, I had no idea how much it took to get ready for this trip. You have to get letters of recommendation from 3 teachers, do online homework and journal assignments, and go through an interview process. There’s also contests to enter and letters/essays to write. And there’s a lot of scholarships available.

I thought I would list what I’ve done so far.

Starting with November, we placed coin cans at local businesses, and took advantages of gift wrapping stations and Santa letters in December. We held a New Year’s Eve childcare party, and began using Phoneraiser, which has gone quite successfully so far, setting up at all the schools in our local district.

We have been selling Village Inn Pie Certificates, Old Country Buffet Meal Saver Cards, Cherry Tiger Spiritwear, Butter Braids, K&B Pasties, Canelakes Fudge, Carosuel Pops, Smencils, Valentine’s Day Goodies, Chocolate Rose Grams, and miscellaneous fun kids dollar stuff.

Lastly, we have been sending out sponsorship letters to local businesses, face painting, selling food at elementary basketball games, and collecting aluminum cans.

We’ve just embarked on a St. Patrick’s Day Feed with fellow delegates, a bake sale as an offer from friends, and we’re beginning to make sparkle headbands and homemade pasta for sale. Every little bit helps,and we’re always open to suggestions, and time is running out! Thank you for anything you might consider contributing.

UPDATE: We have raised 25% of our goal so far outside of Peerbackers with our other fundraising efforts! We are coming along nicely! WOO-HOO!
