Have You Ever Had the Chance to Make Your Dreams Come True?

My chance is now. Through my avid and extensive reading, I’ve traveled to different lands and times for years. From the first time I picked up a book, I have peered through the window of words with fascination at the world and all it has to offer. Finally, the time has come to see the world for real.

I have been given the opportunity to travel to Europe as a student Ambassador with the People to People organization. My trip will take place this summer, and I will be travelling with a delegation of students and teacher leaders to the countries of France, Italy, and Greece. I’ll be able to see the Eifel Tower, take a gondola ride in Venice, tour Rome, and cruise the Greek Islands. I will sample local cuisine, stay with a Tuscan family, and repel down a medieval castle wall. What Is People To People?

The People to People organization http://www.peopletopeople.com/pages/default.aspx was founded by President Eisenhower and has, for nearly fifty years, given young people the chance to experience new cultures and promote world peace through gaining an international perspective. I was lucky enough to travel to Washington D.C. with People to People on a leadership forum when I was in sixth grade, and it fueled my deep desire to travel internationally.

How Am I Going to Get There?

This opportunity doesn’t come free. I am paying my way in part by saving my money, working at babysitting and odd jobs, and holding a yard sale.

I am a good student and love to read. I especially enjoy studying foreign languages, math, and science. I am a member of the Math League, the Drama Club, the Science Club, and I also study piano. I hope someday to be a scientist and/or a professor.
