about my venture

I have been accepted to be a Student Ambassador with People to People, and travel to Italy, Spain, and France the summer of 2012. I will be learning the Mediterranean Traditions and sharing our traditions with them. The total cost of my tuition is $7000. I have already raised $1500.00 though fundraising and donations. I will continue to earn my way through more fundraising and doing odd and end jobs. I have included links for you if you would like to learn more about the program!!! I am from a small town Wagener SC and only 2 other students from my town has been Student Ambassador with People to People and both of them was females so therefore I will be the first mail from my town. I can't wait to represent my town on this journey!!!

Below is the sample itinary for the Mediterranean Traditions which is the trip I will be attending.

People to People Moments

  • Get to know Spanish students over a friendly game.
  • Meet with a priest or monk in Italy to learn what life is really like inside a monastery.
  • Receive an Ambassadorial welcome from a European official.
  • Make friends with European students during a stay with a French or Spanish family.

  • Experience the remarkable architecture of La Sagrada Familia Cathedral, designed by Antoni Gaudi.

Madrid, Spain

I am William Rathburn i'm 14 years old. I am a 9th grader at Wagener Salley High School. I play football, baseball, and basketball. I have played football since I was 7. I have played baseball since I was 6. I have played basketball since I was 12. I am a member of the FFA ( Future Farmers of America). I am a honor roll student. I have a large family including 3 sisters and 1 brother and my parents. I attend Salley Baptist Church in Salley SC. I was Homecoming King in my 8th grade year of school. I am a fun loving young man. I enjoy being involved in our community activites. My family is involved in Hollow Creek Volunteer Fire Department. I plan on attending the University of South Carolina. Yes I am a die hard Carolina fan. I am a very determined young man, when I belive in something I give it my all.
