Who are the Get 'Em Girls’?

The Get 'Em Girls’ are made up of Shakara, Jeniece, and Joan; we are three women living in NYC who share a love for cupcakes, conversation and food.  After 10 years of riding the iron bull and navigating our way through corporate mergers we became casualties of corporate layoffs -- and we survived. In the three years post layoff, we have successfully authored two cookbooks; The Get ’Em Girls’ Guide to the Power of Cuisine and The Get ’Em Girls’ Guide to Planning the Perfect Get-Together (Simon & Schuster Inc.), launched a popular boutique catering company and website getemgirls.com.

The popularity of our delicious cupcakes and savory catering has quickly spread within the past three years and are in high demand.  It is out of the demand for our decadent desserts and food that we decided to extend our brand into The Cupcake Suite, Cupcakery & Café, perfectly positioned in Central Harlem’s budding “Restaurant Row”.  

Immediate Need?

Imagine, you are in midst of build-out, picking out floor tiles, paint shopping and all that jazz when you discover one of your investors has backed out…record scratch!  Construction came to a complete halt and now, we are in need of funding to finish the most important phase of the build-out; the kitchen. As of October 1st we will begin paying rent on our space, so we need your help to finish construction and get the doors open very soon!  Our website, cupcakesuite.com, chronicles the build-out of this delicious journey.

Why Should You Back Our Project?

When Carrie Bradshaw opted to turn to cupcakes instead of cigarettes on Sex and the City, she showed a hip, fun, and sassy side to the sweet indulgence. Face it, cupcakes make people happy. However, the many cupcake shops that we've frequented are neither sassy nor hip -- and the quick-serve approach to service sure isn't fun.

The Cupcake Suite Cupcakery & Cafe is far from your ordinary cupcake shop; it is a unique fusion of a chic and trendy cafe & bar and a classic sweet shop.  A place where light-as-air cream cheese frosting sits atop the go-to flavor "Southern Belle" (better known as Red Velvet); girlfriends get together for "Cupcakes and Cocktails" after a long day at the office; and Harlem locals come for a quick bite or congregate and connect over moderately priced fare.

What’s on the Menu?

Cupcake Flavors: The Cupcake Suite, will offer several cupcake flavors like Southern Belle (our delicious version of classic red velvet cake) Dulce de Banana, Like Sunshine Lemon, Cocoa Cure Chocolate, ‘Nilla Bean, Vanilla, CocoNutty; Cookies ‘N Cream, Vegan Carrot Pecan and various weekly sugar-free and gluten-free varieties.

Sweet Baked Goods: High quality Southern-inspired pastries baked fresh throughout the day.  Includes: freshly baked cookies, brownies and bouchons, whoopee pies, and our signature Caramel Pecan Monkey Bread “pull apart”.

Breakfast Pastries: Rotating selection of traditionally crafted, freshly baked muffins, scones, croissants, and danishes.

Sandwiches: Fast and delicious slow roasted and braised meats and vegetables between freshly baked breads.  For our on-the-go customers, we will offer freshly made rotating cold sandwiches as well as delicious pressed and grilled sandwiches, including our favorite grilled sweet almond butter and jelly on brioche.

Soups and Salads: Crisp and bright freshly prepared simple, yet satisfying salads made with seasonal ingredients and delicious soups that are made daily.
