Why we need your support
Sales of our popular Kitty Holsters® cat harness are about to exceed our supply! Demand for our Kitty Holster® increased exponentially after being featured on CBS Sunday Morning and being given the highest rating (5 out of 5) by Cat Nip magazine based on its comfort and difficulty for cats to wiggle out of. Our sales have consequently gone through the roof and we are at risk of running out of product. We need to make more harnesses sooner than expected, cotton prices have soared significantly increasing the cost of manufacturing the Kitty Holster®, and we need to expand our line with new colors, patterns and sizes to meet customer demand. Without your help it is unlikely that we will be able to start production before we run out of harnesses.
                            
What your donations will do for us
Your donation will help us fund a grant to produce more Kitty Holsters®. We are adding several new colors and patterns as well as two additional sizes to fit a wider range of cats. The colors/patterns we are adding are camouflage, pink, tiger stripe and jaguar. 10% of sales of the pink Kitty Holster will be donated to charities that support the fight against breast cancer.

    One-day educational visit for a group of people at the farm or a mini 'vocation vacation' for two people at either the farm or Crazy K Farm offices. The group educational visit is lead by an instructor with a Ph.D. and ideal for families, children, or students. Both the group and 'vocation vacation' visits include one full day of education and a picnic lunch. The mini 'vocation vacation' is an intensive all-inclusive one-day training seminar for adults who would like to know what it takes, time-, energy- and commitment-wise, to run a hobby farm, family agricultural business, or home-based business. The day’s activities are personally tailored to your interests. Mentor(s) with extensive educational experience spend 8-12 hours mentoring an adult or couple who would like an overview of hobby/family farming or farm animal sanctuary work, and an understanding of what is required for you to start and run your business successfully. Perfect if you are thinking of maintaining your current job after moving to a farm or acreage within commute to a city; if you would like to quit or have lost your job and are thinking of a change of lifestyle; or if you would like some assistance navigating the process of starting a farm-oriented business. Unlike our regular one-day program, this reward is an all-inclusive and includes meals for the day. Additionally, you will get to select one animal to "adopt" You will select the animal's name and be provided with one year of updates on the animal's life here on the farm.

  • Two-day vocation vacation at Crazy K Farm +

    Weekend vocation vacation for two at either the farm or Crazy K Farm offices, includes two full days of education, all educational materials, and lunches. This is a vacation vocation weekend for one or two adults who wants an in-depth experience learning about family farming, farm animal sanctuary work or starting their own a home-based-business. The itinerary is personally tailored to your interests, but is essentially a working vacation with one-on-one mentorship that enables you to test-drive life on a family farm and/or home-based business. We offer two full days working with you on the farm and in the office. You will work along side us as we mentor you through the process of starting your business and the daily demands of keeping it running. By the end of the weekend you will have an excellent idea of what it takes physically, financially, mentally and emotionally to live your dream. Unlike our regular program, this special reward includes all meals and one-night's accommodation. Additionally, you will get to select one animal to "adopt" You will select the animal's name and be provided with one year of updates on the animal's life here on the farm.

President / Crazy K Farm Pet and Poultry Products

I did not start out with the goal of becoming an entrepreneur. A scientist by trade, I’m a prime example of the saying “Necessity is the Mother of Invention.” I loved my successful career as a geologist in the petroleum industry and my former bosses had always been very accommodating when it came to taking care of my special needs daughter by permitting me to work a flexible, telecommuting-based work schedule. Then a new manager, who did not believe in telecommuting, forced me to make a decision: care for my daughter at home or return to the office full time. I chose my daughter… and found myself facing the financial burden of a 60% decrease in our family income. We live on a farm, and nearly all of our 200 animals are rescues. Over the years my main hobby had been creating products to improve the quality of their lives. When covering the food and medical bills of all of our animals while staying home to care for my daughter became impossible, I was inspired to form Crazy K Farm Pet and Poultry Products, LLC to manufacture and market my unique, patent-pending inventions. From the beginning, caring for my toddler daughter and running my business complemented each other. Because her illness, my daughter and I needed to be together for much of the day and night. She spent a lot of time playing and learning in my home office while I worked, and she attended trade shows with me happily dressed up as a chicken or cat to attract distributors, retailers and consumers to our booth. It was no surprise to anyone that the first words my daughter recognized and spelled were “Crazy K Farm.” My business is the epitome of a successful Mom-owned business: The operation of Crazy K Farm Pet and Poultry Products was originally organized around my child’s requirements, and as she began to outgrow the illness that so deeply affected her physical and emotional wellbeing, so did the business grow and transform, all the while enabling me to fully accommodate my daughter’s needs; By the time my daughter was well enough to attend school, my business had grown from its very humble origins as a manufacturer of pre-paid, made-to-order items sold solely via my personal EBay account, to my products being manufactured by the tens of thousands in Bangladesh and sold in stores across the US, Canada and the UK.
