about my venture

Hello my name is Mai. I was nominated to be a Student Ambassador for People to People for the summer of 2012. People to People was founded 50 years ago by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. What they do is delegate international exchange for students with hopes of promoting cultural understanding, peace building, and world awareness.

I was interviewed and accepted for the Modern and Ancient Civilizations program. I would travel to Italy, Sicily, and Greece (which I recently researched) to learn hands on about the people and places there. I would not only experience the main venues such as: the Roman Colosseum, Pompeii, Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel; also, smaller and intimate places exclusive to People to People. I will participate in a 'Home Study' where I stay with a local family to learn and better understand the culture.

This will be an opportunity for me to build my leadership skills and self-confidence. I will be a representative for my school, community, town, state, and last, but not least my country.
