Funding for: Autumn Turner's Trip to the British Isles

about my venture

In my dreams I am in London, floating down the Thames on a river boat. I am looking for Nessie on the banks of Loch Ness in Scotland.  I am repelling down a castle wall in Bangor, Wales. I am crossing a rope bridge used by fishermen for hundreds of years in Northern Ireland, and riding in a horse-drawn jaunty car through the Gap of Dunloe. I want to see the world, and experience the very different cultures of this area. However I need your help to turn a dream into a reality.

I have been accepted on a People to People Ambassador program to the British Isles in the summer of 2013. I will be traveling with other kids my age and experienced teachers from our area. We’ll be eating some interesting local foods along the way (think haggis) the journey will also take us to historical sites, famous land marks, and expose us to unique cultural experiences. Our delegation will travel for 19 days and go to Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, and Northern Ireland. It’s going to be one exciting tour. We will visit the sights and do ten hours of community service while we are over there.

I am “paying my way” and raising money for the program. I have begun babysitting, yard work as well as reaching out to friends, family, and local businesses. Would you be willing to give me a hand? I am looking for donations. I would really appreciate any and all donations that come my way.

The program was formed by President Eisenhower in 1956, with the first delegation begining in 1963, now we travel to over 40 countries, some students even got to meet Queen Elizabeth in 1999! For the fourth year in a row, people to people has made the national advisory list of student contests and activities!
