about my venture

Dear Potential Sponsor,

My name is Ellen Wilson and I am 11 years old. My life began as a batlle. I was born 12 weeks early and had to spend 6 weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. At just 2 pounds and 15 ounces at birth, I had many battles to overcome. I had to gain weight, learn to eat and overcome a heart problem and jaundice. I won thes...e battles. My parents were told very early on that I would probably be severely delayed in my learning abilities as well as my physical development. Boy did I prove those doctors wrong. I have been a straight A student since I began school. I am physically, emotionally and mentally 100%. My goal is to become a Neonatologist when I grow up, so that I may help babies that begin life with a battle and hopefully help them overcome them. I also would love to travel to less fortunate countries and help them with healthcare as well as help low income families here in the United States with healthcare. Now that you know a little about me, this is why I am writing to you.

I have been selected to participate in People To People’s Student Ambassador Program, an educational exploration program founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. What that means is I have the opportunity to go to England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales during this coming summer. I would have the opportunity to learn about other cultures and countries. This will be a wonderful learning experience for me and help me grow as a person. By participating in this program I can develop new skills through activities designed to stretch me outside my comfort zone and discover and enjoy these new experiences. I can serve a greater purpose through community service projects that help the environment and assist a local community. I will be able to learn about the world through hands-on interaction with local citizens and government officials. This can also set me apart on college applications and in considerations for awards and scholarships, which will be a great help since my career goal will require a long college career .
